How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Product Owner/Product Manager (254lw) Defence Tech - Remote - £70,000-£80,000 pa + benefits

We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager / Product Owner to take ownership of a portfolio of secure interoperability and integration capabilities supporting Defence, Government and National Security customers. A permanent remote role with frequent travel to Midlands and South of England.

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.

This is a strategic and hands-on role, working across customers, technical architecture, engineering, delivery and commercial teams. You’ll shape product strategy, translate operational requirements into deliverable outcomes and ensure solutions continue to evolve in line with customer needs and market opportunity.

The role would particularly suit an ex-military professional with experience in capability management, CIS, communications, systems integration, information exchange, cyber, requirements or technology-led programme delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

Help shape and refine the organisation’s interoperability and integration strategy.

Capture and agree customer, programme and business requirements, translating them into clear technical goals and priorities.

Own and prioritise product backlogs across multiple programmes and development teams.

Work closely with Technical Architects, Engineering and Delivery Managers to turn requirements into deliverable solutions.

Define Product Goals, sprint objectives, priorities and delivery plans.

Own the end-to-end product release process, including requirements, documentation, implementation, deployment and acceptance.

Manage product and service lifecycles, ensuring roadmaps remain aligned with customer and strategic requirements.

Develop compelling value propositions across software, services and managed services.

Engage directly with customers, presenting solutions and gathering feedback to influence product direction.

Work with Marketing to develop product collateral, campaigns and market-facing communications.

Monitor competitors, emerging technologies, suppliers and market developments to identify opportunities and inform strategy.

Maintain relevant product/component information and Bills of Materials.

Facilitate engineering estimates and provide clear visibility of delivery, timescales and costs.

    You’ll ideally bring:

Experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, Capability Manager or Requirements Manager within Defence, Government, National Security or a related high-assurance environment.

Knowledge of interoperability, systems integration, secure information exchange or complex technology environments.

A strong blend of technical understanding, commercial awareness and customer-facing communication skills.

The ability to engage credibly with everyone from engineers and technical architects to senior leaders and customers.

Strong prioritisation, stakeholder management and decision-making skills.

Experience managing products or programmes from concept through development, release and lifecycle management.

Existing or achievable SC Security Clearance.

    Ex-Military Professionals

This role could be an excellent fit for someone leaving the Armed Forces with experience in CIS, communications, information systems, intelligence, systems integration, capability development, operational technology, requirements management or programme delivery.

Please send a copy of your CV with a note outlining why this would be the ideal opportunity for you to Liz Walsh at Ex-Mil Recruitment Ltd
