How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    MAINTENANCE PLANNER

    PETERBOROUGH

    TUESDAY TO SATURDAY

    Are you fast thinking and dynamic? Do you have sound knowledge of class 66 or freight locomotives in general? Do you enjoy problem-solving? Do you have a good grasp of Excel? This role would be ideal for a candidate with good knowledge of rolling-stock and looking to enhance their skill sets in a customer-facing role.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen at our customers Peterborough site for a Locomotive Maintenance Planner. As a Maintenance Planner, you will be accountable for planning all sort and long term scheduled maintenance, defects and loco failures week to week whilst providing a first line contact within the customers office.

    PRIMARY FUNCTION OF A MAINTENANCE PLANNER

    To provide maintenance and planning support to Contract Maintenance and UK production. Providing first line technical support to the customer to reduce in service faults and failures. To achieve local objectives as set by the Head of UK contract maintenance. To work effectively and with a sense of urgency supporting others in the team.

    DUTIES OF A MAINTENANCE PLANNER

    · Primarily, plan all short and long term scheduled maintenance, defects and loco failures week to week at our three maintenance depots and across the UK for our field team using various documents that track our maintenance periodicities.

    · Work with the Customer, Fleet Manager, Depots and Field Service Team to agree the weekly maintenance plan, ensuring its achievable and loco down time is being utilised efficiently to avoid locos returning to depots unnecessarily.

    · Use past freight loco experience to help make decisions on how best to react to defects raised by the customer, prioritising those that need attendance first to avoid potential service failures.

    · Have loco availability at the forefront of your mind when making decision and look beyond the day to day to help us achieve contractual KPIs.

    · Work as the sole EMD representative within the customer site and have an ability to react to information disclosed in the correct manner with company values in mind at all times.

    · Facilitate daily meetings with depots and customers to obtain information allowing us to forecast accurate prediction to aid the customers diagram planning.

    · Maintain repair plans for all raised defects ensuring all are captured in field maintenance or when locos visit depots next.

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA OF A MAINTENANCE PLANNER

    * Candidates should possess strong Maintenance Planning and Planning skills to develop schedules, allocate resources, and coordinate maintenance activities effectively.

    * Candidates should possess Equipment Maintenance and Maintenance Management skills to understand asset requirements, maintenance strategies, and reliability best practices.

    * Candidates should possess Supervisory Skills to collaborate with maintenance teams, provide guidance, and support safe, efficient work execution.

    * Relevant experience in industrial, manufacturing, or rail environments, with familiarity in CMMS or maintenance planning software.

    * Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on safety and quality.

    * Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.

    * Vocational qualification, apprenticeship, or technical diploma in engineering, maintenance, or a related field is beneficial; prior experience in a maintenance planning or coordination role is preferred.
