How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Coordinate room bookings, centre timetables, and operational schedules to maximise usage and community benefit.
Ensure cleaning arrangements and operational procedures are consistently maintained.
Work with residents to establish and support resident keyholder arrangements.

    Community Engagement & Development

Build trusted relationships with residents, community organisations, and local stakeholders.
Develop and coordinate community-led programmes, activities, and events that respond to local needs.
Support resident participation and co-design approaches to service development.
Encourage greater inclusion and engagement from underrepresented groups.

    Partnership & Stakeholder Management

Develop effective partnerships with charities, voluntary organisations, local businesses, and statutory services.
Promote community centres as thriving hubs for collaboration and innovation.
Represent the service at local forums, meetings, and community networks.
Manage relationships with commercial tenants and organisations operating within community centre spaces.

    Financial Management & Income Generation

Monitor budgets and expenditure, ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
Identify opportunities to generate income through room hire, grants, partnerships, and fundraising initiatives.
Support the financial sustainability of community centre operations.

    Leadership & Volunteer Management

Lead, support, and develop staff and volunteers.
Coordinate recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing development.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and resident-focused culture across all centres.

    Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Monitor attendance figures, centre utilisation, KPIs, and community outcomes.
Produce reports that demonstrate impact, performance, and opportunities for improvement.
Use data, feedback, and local intelligence to enhance services and community engagement.

    Communications & Promotion

Promote community centre facilities and activities through the council website, newsletters, outreach initiatives, and social media.
Increase awareness of services and opportunities available to local residents.
Ensure communications are accessible, inclusive, and effective.
