How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £53,000 including shift allowance + excellent benefits
    4-on, 4-off Days & Nights
    Magor, South Wales

Are you a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer looking for a role where you can develop your technical skills, take ownership of engineering improvements and build a long-term career with a global business? If so we have an excellent opportunity to join the team at the highly automated distribution facility of world’s largest FMCG companies

    The Role

You’ll join a team of experienced Maintenance Engineers working on a wide range of automated material-handling equipment, including:

    Automated cranes
    Roller and chain conveyors
    Lift tables
    Rotation tables
    Shuttle cars
    Motors and gearboxes
    Sensors and control panels
The role is approximately 75% planned preventative and 25% reactive maintenance, giving you the opportunity to work proactively while still getting involved in hands-on fault finding on a range of mechanical and electrical components across the site

    What You'll Be Doing

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across highly automated equipment
Responding to reactive breakdowns and carrying out effective fault finding
Working across both electrical and mechanical systems
Inspecting, cleaning and lubricating mechanical components
Diagnosing faults involving motors, sensors, control panels and conveyors
Working with chains, sprockets, bearings and gearboxes
Carrying out basic PLC diagnostics and checking I/O on Siemens S7 systems
    Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
Supporting root cause analysis and helping to prevent repeat failures
Working closely with operators to maintain equipment reliability
    What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is confident working in an automated environment and enjoys getting hands-on with both electrical and mechanical equipment.

    You'll ideally have:

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
At least 2 years' experience working in an automated environment
Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
An understanding of PLCs, ideally Siemens S7
A genuine passion for engineering and continuous improvement
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to belong, develop and make an impact within the team.

    Career Development

This isn't simply a maintenance role — there is a genuine opportunity to build a long-term career within the business.

The Engineering Manager is looking to strengthen the team's technical capability and develop the next generation of talent.

For the right person, there are opportunities to progress in two directions:

Leadership: develop towards a management position
Technical: progress through continuous improvement, root cause analysis or controls
You'll receive strong on-the-job training and will be supported by an experienced team.

    What's On Offer?

    £53,000 salary including shift allowance
    4-on, 4-off shift pattern
    12-hour shifts – 2 days, 2 nights
    28 days' holiday
    8% pension contribution
    Private healthcare
    Private dental cover
    Life assurance
    Overtime available at enhanced rates
    Excellent long-term career progression
    Hands-on training and development
Opportunity to work with some of the most advanced automated equipment in the industry
    The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to move beyond simply reacting to breakdowns and become a key part of a team focused on reliability, continuous improvement and root cause analysis.

If you're passionate about engineering, enjoy working with automation and want to develop your career within a global organisation, we'd like to hear from you.

ATA is committed to creating a diverse workforce and is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of age, disability, gender, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation
