How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Controls Engineer – West Yorkshire – Special Purpose Machinery – £55-65k + Bonus

    Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Senior Controls Engineer to join a growing special purpose machinery and automation business based in West Yorkshire.

    The successful Senior Controls Engineer will have strong PLC programming experience gained within special purpose machinery, automation, robotics or a similar OEM environment.

    You’ll be joining a well-established engineering team working from a state-of-the-art facility, designing, developing and commissioning bespoke automated machinery for customers in the UK and internationally.

    Key aspects of the Senior Controls Engineer role include:

    * Design, program and commission PLC and HMI control systems for bespoke machinery and automation projects

    * PLC programming using platforms including Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff and/or Schneider

    * Development of control architectures, wiring diagrams, system layouts and functional design specifications

    * Complex motion control experience would be advantageous

    * HMI/SCADA development – experience with FactoryTalk Optix and Siemens Unified would be useful

    * FAT and SAT testing and commissioning

    * Troubleshooting control system faults, software issues and industrial communication problems

    * Knowledge of industrial networks including Ethernet/IP, Profinet and EtherCAT

    * Experience of machinery safety systems, including risk assessment, design and validation

    * Work closely with mechanical, electrical and software engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle

    * Robotics experience with ABB, Fanuc or Staubli would be advantageous

    * Experience with Cognex or Keyence vision systems would also be useful

    * Some UK and international travel to customer sites will be required

    An HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or a related discipline would be beneficial.
