We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Support Worker to join a local authority team supporting vulnerable households at risk of homelessness.
The role involves supporting clients living in temporary accommodation and helping them move into suitable, settled accommodation, including social housing and private rented accommodation. You will work closely with clients to address the issues that have contributed to homelessness and ensure appropriate ongoing support is in place to sustain their tenancy.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a key worker for households in temporary accommodation or at risk of homelessness.
Assess needs and develop support plans for clients with complex needs.
Support vulnerable adults and families experiencing issues including mental/physical health, substance misuse, financial difficulties and domestic abuse.
Assist clients with welfare benefits, housing options and access to relevant services.
Support clients to secure and move into settled accommodation.
Identify safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action.
Work closely with Housing Options, social care, health services and other agencies.
Maintain accurate case records and participate in case reviews.
Provide frontline support through a duty rota.
Undertake client visits across the borough, including lone working.About You
You will have previous experience in housing support, homelessness or temporary accommodation, ideally working with people with complex or multiple needs.
You should have:
Strong knowledge of housing options and welfare benefits.
Experience supporting vulnerable people and families.
Experience of safeguarding and multi-agency working.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work independently and manage a caseload.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Ability to commute to the Halifax office and undertake visits across the borough.
A relevant Level 3 qualification or demonstrable relevant experience.An Enhanced DBS with Adult and Children's Barred List checks will be required.
