How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Graduate Civil Engineer
     
    Leeds £26,000 - £29,000 per year, dependent on experience
    Are you a Graduate Civil Engineer looking to start your career in drainage and infrastructure design? This is an opportunity to join an established engineering consultancy in Leeds where you will gain hands-on project experience, work alongside experienced engineers and develop the technical skills needed to progress your career.

    The opportunity
    My client is an established engineering consultancy delivering civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. Due to continued workload and growth, they are looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer with an interest in drainage to join their Leeds team.
    As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will work closely with experienced engineers and technicians, giving you exposure to real projects from an early stage in your career.
     
    What you will be doing
    You will be involved in the design and delivery of drainage and civil engineering schemes, developing your technical knowledge while contributing to live projects.
     
    You will be:
    ·Assisting with the design of foul and surface water drainage systems.
    ·Supporting the preparation of drainage strategies and technical designs.
    ·Carrying out drainage calculations and assisting with hydraulic modelling.
    ·Using industry-standard design software, with training and support provided where required.
    ·Producing and reviewing engineering drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
    ·Supporting the design of SuDS and sustainable drainage solutions.
    ·Working alongside senior engineers, technicians and other members of multidisciplinary project teams.
    ·Liaising with internal teams, clients and relevant external stakeholders as your experience develops.
    ·Developing your understanding of UK drainage standards, guidance and best practice.
    ·Supporting projects from initial concept through to detailed design.
     
    What you will need
    To be considered for this Graduate Civil Engineer position, you should have:
    ·A degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
    ·A genuine interest in developing a career within drainage, infrastructure and civil engineering.
    ·An understanding of drainage principles gained through your degree, placement, internship or project work.
    ·Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    ·The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a project team.
    ·A willingness to learn new software, technical standards and engineering processes.
    Experience with software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage would be beneficial, but it is not essential where you can demonstrate a strong willingness to learn.
     
    Salary and benefits
    The salary for this Graduate Civil Engineer vacancy is £26,000 - £29,000 per year, dependent on experience.
