How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Luma Education Recruitment is working with a specialist education provider in Totnes to recruit a passionate and adaptable Teacher to join their dedicated team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for teachers from a Primary, Secondary, SEND, Mainstream or Alternative Provision background who are looking for a more personalised approach to education.

    The setting is passionate about its pupils and their outcomes, creating a supportive environment where young people can develop academically, socially and personally.

    You don't need to have previous SEND experience. This role could be particularly well suited to a mainstream teacher looking to explore a different style of teaching, with smaller groups, bespoke learning and greater opportunities to build meaningful relationships with pupils.

    The Role

    You will teach small groups of pupils, delivering personalised, project-based learning aligned with individual EHCP outcomes and learning needs.

    Working closely with Education Support Workers and Teaching Assistants, you will create engaging learning experiences that help pupils develop confidence, independence and essential skills.

    The setting is based in a lovely location in Totnes, Devon, and offers an opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils who may have found traditional education challenging.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Plan and deliver engaging lessons for small groups.

    * Develop creative, project-based learning activities.

    * Align teaching with pupils' EHCP outcomes and individual targets.

    * Adapt lessons and resources to meet individual needs.

    * Monitor and record pupil progress.

    * Build positive relationships with pupils.

    * Promote confidence, independence and resilience.

    * Work closely with Education Support Workers and Teaching Assistants.

    * Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.

    * Maintain high expectations and promote positive behaviour.

    Who We're Looking For

    We welcome applications from experienced teachers with backgrounds in:

    * Primary education

    * Secondary education

    * SEND / SEN

    * Mainstream education

    * SEMH

    * Alternative Provision

    We're looking for a teacher who is creative, adaptable, patient and passionate about helping young people succeed.

    Essential Requirements

    * QTS or recognised teaching qualification.

    * Experience teaching in a UK education setting.

    * Strong classroom management and communication skills.

    * Ability to differentiate and personalise learning.

    * Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle – essential due to the location.

    * Enhanced DBS clearance, or willingness to obtain one.

    SEND or specialist education experience is desirable but not essential. Support will be available for teachers transitioning from mainstream education.

    Why Consider This Role?

    * Small class groups and personalised teaching.

    * Creative, project-based learning.

    * Teaching aligned with individual EHCP outcomes.

    * Supportive specialist education environment.

    * Close collaboration with Education Support Workers and Teaching Assistants.

    * Opportunity to make a meaningful difference to pupils.

    * Ongoing role with temporary-to-permanent potential.

    * Lovely location in Totnes, Devon.
