How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role

    As Electrical Project Engineer, you'll technically coordinate and support the delivery of electrical services during design development, procurement, modelling, installation and commissioning. Working under the direction of the Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer, you'll help ensure compliance with the project brief, technical specifications, industry regulations and the Building Safety Act.

    Previous MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health) contracting experience is essential for this role.

    What We're Looking For

    Technical Knowledge

    Strong understanding of LV power distribution, containment, lighting and small power, fire/life safety systems and associated BMS controls interfaces

    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications

    Support the implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and produce technical submittals for approval

    Inspect installed electrical systems and report non-conformances

    Project Management & Planning

    Support supervisors and installation teams, monitoring progress and escalating risks early

    Assist with labour planning for electrical installations and maintain input to the electrical risk register

    Coordinate defined testing and commissioning phases for electrical systems

    Communication & Coordination

    Provide updates on electrical progress and constraints

    Agree actions with mechanical, structural and architectural teams

    Brief supervisors and installers on upcoming works, prepare RFIs and clearly explain site constraints

    Problem Solving & Decision Making

    Identify clashes between electrical and other services, using 3D models to interrogate arrangements

    Propose alternative installation solutions for technical approval

    Review subcontractor technical queries, support RFI submissions and mark up drawings to reflect approved changes

    Design Process

    Awareness of the design process and consultant deliverables, including roles within the DRM, BG6 and BIMExP

    Understand CDM responsibilities and Contractor's Design Portions

    Familiarity with modular construction concepts (MMC/DFMA) and model viewers such as Revizto and Navisworks

    Managing Self

    Effective time management and task prioritisation

    Undertake continuous professional development, building relevant skills, knowledge and competence

    Demonstrate commitment to health & safety and an interest in net zero and low-carbon engineering

    What You'll Bring to the Role

    Essential MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health) contracting experience, with a strong understanding of how electrical systems integrate with mechanical and public health services

    Strong communicator, able to explain technical issues clearly in reports, RFIs and emails, and to work collaboratively across mechanical and electrical teams

    Excellent organisation and time management, able to juggle multiple tasks, deadlines, drawings and procurement

    Strong problem-solving ability, analysing issues quickly to find practical solutions

    High attention to detail across drawings, specifications, installation quality and commissioning procedures

    Technical curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning, with a genuine interest in new technologies, standards and regulations

    Qualifications

    Essential:

    HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering

    18th Edition (BS 7671) Wiring Regulations

    CSCS / SMSTS / SSSTS beneficial

    Desirable:

    Degree-level qualification in Electrical / Building Services Engineering

    AutoCAD / Navisworks / Revizto and Microsoft Excel proficiency

    Professional engineering status (EngTech / IEng / CEng), or working towards, is required.
