How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Shunter / Fueller

    Location: Kendal
    Pay: £14.00 per hour
    Contract: Temporary – Friday & Saturday initially, with ongoing work available based on performance
    Hours: Friday & Saturday, 2:00pm – 12:30am

    About the Role

    We are currently recruiting for a Shunter / Fueller to join a busy bus depot in Kendal.

    The role will involve fuelling buses and safely shunting vehicles around the depot, ensuring they are correctly positioned and ready for service.

    The position will initially be for Friday and Saturday this week, with the opportunity for ongoing work based on performance, reliability and suitability for the role.

    This is a great opportunity for someone with previous shunting experience who is looking for additional work or the opportunity to establish themselves within a busy transport environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Safely shunt buses around the depot
    Fuel buses ready for service
    Move and position vehicles safely within the depot
    Ensure buses are parked correctly and ready for operation
    Carry out basic checks when moving vehicles
    Follow all depot health and safety procedures
    Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working environment
    Work safely and efficiently as part of the depot team

    Skills & Experience Required

    Essential:

    Previous experience driving or manoeuvring larger vehicles
    Full UK driving licence
    Strong awareness of health and safety
    Reliable, punctual and hardworking
    Comfortable working evening shifts
    Ability to safely manoeuvre vehicles within a busy depot environment
    Desirable:

    Previous shunting experience
    Previous experience shunting buses, coaches or HGVs
    Experience working within a bus, coach, truck or transport depot
    Experience with vehicle fuelling
