A growing Principal Contractor seeks a Site Manager to lead a 40-week residential façades project based in Horsham. This role offers the opportunity to manage a critical refurbishment scheme within the construction sector, ensuring high standards of health and safety, quality, and programme delivery.
Job Duties
Plan, organise and oversee all site activities relating to scaffold management, refurbishment works, and facades installation.
Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage subcontractors and suppliers on site to maintain quality standards and adherence to programme timelines.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor progress, quality control, and safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of daily site operations, including site diaries, risk assessments, and method statements.
Coordinate with project managers and clients to provide timely updates and resolve issues promptly.
Lead toolbox talks and site meetings to communicate requirements, risks, and progress to the workforce.
Manage resource allocation effectively to optimise productivity and minimise delays.
Ensure all site activities are delivered within budget and to the agreed programme.
Required Qualifications
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
Current First Aid qualification.
Scaffold Inspection certification.
Full, clean driving licence.
Experience
Proven experience managing scaffold operations on construction sites.
Demonstrable background in residential refurbishment and facade projects.
Experience working to tight schedules on contract-based projects.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practises within the construction industry.
Excellent site management skills, including resource planning and team leadership.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and workforce.
Competent in risk assessment and method statement preparation.
Proficient in site reporting and documentation.
Working Conditions
Full-time hours on site, typically Monday to Friday with occasional overtime as required.
Work is predominantly outdoors and subject to weather conditions.
Role involves physical activity including site inspections and movement around scaffolded areas.
Compliance with all personal protective equipment requirements is mandatory.
