How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Health & Safety Manager – Construction
Location: London – covering multiple projects
    Salary: £50,000 – £75,000 + Package

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Manager to join a growing and well-established main contractor, working across two to three refurbishment projects throughout London.
The business specialises in delivering complex commercial and residential construction projects, with a strong portfolio of refurbishment, retrofit and new-build schemes across the capital. They take a hands-on, collaborative approach to project delivery and place a genuine emphasis on innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement.
Health & Safety is a key focus across the business, with procedures benchmarked against Tier 1 contractors and a culture built around open communication, workforce engagement, training and continuous improvement.

    The Role
As Health & Safety Manager, you will work closely with project and site teams across two to three live refurbishment projects in London, ensuring consistently high standards of health, safety and compliance.
This isn't a role for someone who simply wants to police procedures. The business is looking for someone who can engage with people, build relationships and bring fresh ideas and initiatives to further develop the company's approach to Health & Safety.
    Responsibilities will include:

Managing Health & Safety across multiple London construction projects
Carrying out regular site inspections, audits and reviews
Supporting Site and Project Managers with Health & Safety matters
Reviewing RAMS and ensuring appropriate procedures are implemented
Identifying risks and recommending practical solutions
Promoting a positive Health & Safety culture across project teams and subcontractors
Delivering and supporting toolbox talks, briefings and training
Monitoring compliance with company policies and relevant legislation
Investigating incidents and implementing preventative actions
Working collaboratively with site teams rather than taking a purely enforcement-led approach
Introducing new ideas, initiatives and improvements to help continuously raise standards About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:

    NEBOSH qualification – essential
Previous Health & Safety experience within the construction industry
Experience working across refurbishment projects would be highly advantageous
Strong knowledge of UK construction Health & Safety legislation
Experience supporting multiple live construction sites
    A practical and solutions-focused approach
    Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
The confidence to challenge where necessary while maintaining positive relationships
A flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of the wider project team
The ability to bring fresh thinking and new initiatives into the business Personality is particularly important. The company is looking for a likeable, approachable and flexible team player who can work effectively with everyone from site operatives and subcontractors through to senior management.

    The Company
The contractor operates in the UK and forms part of a major European construction group. The UK business delivers complex residential and commercial schemes and has a strong track record across London, including major refurbishment and retrofit projects. Current projects include significant commercial redevelopments in Mayfair and Fleet Street, alongside a wider portfolio across the capital.
The business has also achieved ISO 45001:2018 certification and actively promotes Health & Safety through workforce consultation, training, data analysis and company-wide initiatives.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to join a growing contractor where they can have a genuine influence on Health & Safety, rather than simply maintaining an existing system.
