How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Make a real difference every dayAre you a practical, hands-on person who takes pride in keeping buildings safe, welcoming and well maintained?

We’re looking for a Maintenance & Facilities Assistant to join our team, supporting six independent living locations across Oxfordshire. This is a varied role where no two days are quite the same — from carrying out minor repairs and preventative maintenance to inspecting estates and helping create comfortable, well-presented spaces for residents.

You’ll work closely with Scheme Managers, Housing and Facilities colleagues, as well as residents and contractors, making sure issues are dealt with promptly and standards remain high.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being out and about, solving problems and seeing the immediate impact of their work.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.

    What you’ll be doing:
Carry out a range of minor repairs across communal areas and residents’ properties.
Complete planned and preventative maintenance to keep buildings in excellent condition.
Carry out regular estate and building inspections, identifying issues and taking action where appropriate.
Help maintain attractive, clean and safe communal areas, including some external cleaning.
Manage and prioritise repair requests to ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.
Arrange or escalate more complex repairs to the relevant contractors or specialist teams.
Work alongside Scheme Managers to coordinate maintenance and respond to local needs.
Keep residents updated on repairs, progress and expected timescales.
Identify and report Health & Safety concerns and potential hazards.
Complete monthly estate inspections and maintain clear records of findings.
Look after maintenance tools and equipment, reporting any defects or issues.
Keep accurate records of completed repairs, inspections and maintenance activity.
Provide a friendly, professional and reliable service to residents at all times. What we’re looking forYou’ll ideally have experience in general building maintenance, property repairs or facilities support, with practical knowledge across areas such as:

    Basic plumbing
    Carpentry
    Decorating
    General property maintenance
Health & Safety within residential or facilities environmentsYou’ll also need to be organised and confident managing your own workload across multiple locations, while communicating effectively with residents, colleagues and contractors.
Experience using handheld devices or maintenance management systems would be an advantage, and COSHH knowledge is desirable.

Essential: Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
About youWe’re looking for someone who is:

Practical and hands-on – happy getting stuck in and fixing problems.
Proactive – you spot issues before they become bigger problems.
Customer-focused – you care about providing a positive experience for residents.
Reliable and organised – able to manage priorities across multiple locations.
Self-motivated – comfortable working independently and using your initiative.
A great team player – flexible, approachable and willing to support colleagues. Why join? This is more than a maintenance role. You’ll play an important part in creating safe, comfortable and welcoming environments for residents, while enjoying a varied role across six locations in Oxfordshire.

If you’re someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing a job well and wants a role where your work genuinely makes a difference, we’d love to hear from you
