How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Quantity Surveyor – Social Housing Refurbishment

    Location: Boston or Grimsby, Lincolnshire

    Salary: Competitive + car allowance/company car + bonus

    The Opportunity

    A leading property services contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its established Northern commercial team. The business delivers a range of social housing refurbishment, capital works and retrofit programmes, and this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take a senior commercial position within a supportive and well-established team. The role can be based from either Boston or Grimsby, with travel required across the wider Northern contract portfolio.

    The Role

    As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of established social housing refurbishment and capital works contracts, working closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure financial and contractual performance is maximised.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Managing the commercial performance of social housing refurbishment and capital works contracts.

    Ensuring the business secures its full contractual entitlement.

    Monitoring project costs, revenue and profitability against agreed budgets.

    Preparing and maintaining accurate cash flow forecasts and revenue profiles.

    Supporting monthly financial reporting, forecasting and commercial governance.

    Maximising cash flow through accurate applications, invoicing and resolution of client queries.

    Managing subcontractor orders, procurement and commercial relationships.

    Identifying commercial risks and potential disputes at an early stage.

    Supporting the resolution of contractual and commercial disputes.

    Providing contractual and commercial advice to operational teams.

    Reviewing contract conditions and ensuring contractual obligations are understood and managed effectively.

    Supporting the development of junior commercial team members.

    Working collaboratively with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

    Providing accurate and timely commercial information to support business decisions.

    About You

    The successful candidate will have previous experience working in a Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management position, ideally within social housing, property services, planned maintenance, refurbishment or capital works. You will ideally have experience of managing commercial functions across established, multi-disciplinary contracts and be confident dealing with both operational and client-facing responsibilities.

    Candidates from other construction or commercial sectors with strong contractual and commercial experience will also be considered.

    Essential Requirements

    Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial position.

    Experience working on refurbishment, construction or property services contracts.

    Strong commercial and contractual awareness.

    Good understanding of contract conditions.

    Experience with management accounts, forecasting and financial reporting.

    Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and formulas.

    Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

    Ability to identify and manage commercial risks.

    Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.

    Desirable

    Social housing or planned maintenance experience.

    Knowledge of NHF/Schedule of Rates.

    Experience of retrofit or capital works programmes.

    Knowledge of Contract Law.

    Experience managing disputes and contractual issues.

    Professional construction, surveying or accountancy qualification.

    Experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary contracts.
