How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Contract Recruitment Consultant

We are expanding our Birmingham team and are looking for an ambitious and driven Contract Recruitment Consultant to run a full 360 contract recruitment desk within our Engineering and Manufacturing division. This role sits at Recruitment Consultant level, though we're also happy to speak to candidates at mid to senior recruitment consultant level, with the role and package shaped around the experience you bring.
We're looking for someone who wants full ownership of the recruitment lifecycle, from winning new business through to placing and managing contractors, with clear earning potential and a defined path through to senior and managing consultant level and beyond.
Owen Daniels is a leading STEM recruitment solutions group, founded in 2011, with its head office in Camberley, Surrey and additional offices in Birmingham and Chicago, US. We specialise in delivering bespoke recruitment solutions to Engineering, Manufacturing and wider STEM businesses across the UK & US and we offer one of the strongest, uncapped commission structures in the market.
    What we're looking for

Proven experience in contract or temporary recruitment, essential for this role
A track record of winning new business and building client relationships
Experience within Engineering, Manufacturing or wider STEM recruitment
Strong candidate sourcing and account management skills
A working understanding of contract legislation, including IR35 and the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR); our compliance team is on hand to support you with the detail
Confident, resilient and target-driven, with a genuine interest in the engineering or manufacturing sectors
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple live roles and contractors at once
A team player with a professional and positive approachThe role
As a 360 Recruitment Consultant on our contract desk, you will build and manage your own client base, win new business and place candidates into engineering and manufacturing roles across the UK. You will be responsible for the full recruitment lifecycle, from business development and client management through to candidate sourcing, contractor compliance and ongoing account growth.
You will work towards clear financial targets and promotion thresholds, with progression built around billings, active contractor numbers and contract margin, set out in a transparent career framework from Recruitment Consultant through to Associate Director.
We're proud to offer one of the strongest back offices in the market to support contract recruitment. Our in-house compliance team is highly experienced and on hand to help you navigate difficult discussions and information requests with clients, so you're never left to handle complex IR35 or AWR queries alone. Alongside this, you'll have the tools and support in place to sell contract solutions with confidence.
    Duties

Proactively develop new business across target sectors and accounts, generating leads and winning vacancies with new and existing clients
Manage client relationships autonomously, including client visits and job-spec calls
Source, screen and assess candidates using LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards and our internal CRM
Manage the full contract lifecycle, including compliance with IR35 and AWR, contractor status assessments and pay and margin calculations, with support from our dedicated in-house compliance team
Maintain and grow a book of active contractors within your desk
Manage interview coordination, offers, counter-offers and onboarding
Maintain accurate and timely records within Bullhorn CRM, including logging all call activity
Work towards weekly KPIs and monthly, quarterly and annual billing targetsWhat we offer

Hybrid working - 3 days in the office, 2 from home
Excellent, uncapped commission structure with clear progression opportunities
1.30pm finish every Friday - 37 hours a week contract
    Birthday and Christmas off
    Health care and life insurance
Quarterly lunch clubs and annual incentive rewards
Training and development, both internally and externally
Supportive, collaborative team environmentWhy Owen Daniels
We pride ourselves on long-term relationships, quality delivery and developing our people. This role offers genuine career progression within a growing STEM recruitment business, with the support, tools and training to succeed and a clear route through to senior and management level
