How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Join a Leading Rail Engineering Business

Are you an experienced Paint Sprayer or Prepper looking to take your skills into a specialist engineering environment?

We're recruiting a number of Paint Sprayers / Preppers to join one of the UK's leading rail engineering organisations in Milton Keynes. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on large scale rail vehicles and components, producing high quality finishes that play a vital role in keeping the UK's rail network moving.

Whether your experience comes from Rail, Aerospace, Marine, Power Generation, Defence, Automotive Manufacturing, or Heavy Industrial Painting, we'd love to hear from you.

    The Opportunity

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy the preparation side of the painting process as much as the spraying itself.

    The position is approximately:

    70% Surface Preparation / 30% Paint Spraying

You'll be responsible for preparing rail vehicle components to the highest standards before applying specialist coatings and finishes in line with customer specifications and industry requirements.

    What You'll Be Doing

Preparing rail vehicles and components for painting and finishing
Sanding, masking, filling and repairing surface imperfections
Carrying out detailed preparation work to achieve high quality finishes
Mixing paints, primers and coatings to specification
Operating industrial spray painting equipment safely and effectively
Applying primers, base coats and finishing coats using water based paint systems
Conducting quality inspections throughout the preparation and painting process
Working to strict quality, environmental and safety standards
Maintaining equipment, tools and work areas to a high standard

    What We're Looking For

    Essential Experience

Proven background in paint preparation and spray painting
Strong preparation skills including sanding, masking, filling and finishing
    Experience operating industrial spray equipment
Ability to work to detailed specifications and quality standards
Strong understanding of health and safety within an industrial environment
Ability to work effectively within a shift based operation

    Industry Backgrounds Considered

We're particularly interested in candidates from:

    Rail
    Aerospace
    Marine
    Power Generation
    Defence
    Heavy Engineering
    Industrial Manufacturing

    Important Information

This role is primarily preparation focused, with around 70% of the workload dedicated to prep work.

A practical spray test forms part of the assessment process.

Candidates whose experience is limited to SMART repairs may not be suitable unless they can demonstrate substantial industrial, structural, or manufacturing paint experience.

Offers of employment are subject to a successful medical assessment, drugs and alcohol screening.

    Why Apply?

This is a rare opportunity to join a well established engineering business offering long term job security, specialist training, excellent earning potential through shift allowances, and the chance to work on high profile rail projects that make a real impact across the UK.

Apply today to find out more and take the next step in your engineering career.
