How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new firm

Our client is a highly regarded regional law firm with a longstanding reputation for excellence in private client work. Recognised by the leading legal directories and known for providing a high level of service to individuals, families and business owners, the firm offers a collaborative and supportive environment where lawyers are encouraged to develop specialist expertise and progress their careers.

    Your new role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Private Client Solicitor or Associate to join an established Succession & Tax team based in Southampton. You will advise on a broad range of private client matters, with a particular focus on trusts, estate planning and tax-efficient wealth preservation strategies. The role will see you working closely with individuals, families, trustees and beneficiaries on complex and rewarding matters.Your responsibilities will include advising on the creation, administration and termination of trusts, preparing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, estate administration, obtaining Grants of Probate and providing succession planning advice. You will also advise on inheritance tax, capital gains tax and income tax considerations, working closely alongside specialist trust administration and tax professionals to deliver a seamless service to clients. This position offers exposure to high-quality work, strong client contact and the opportunity to further develop your expertise within a respected private client practice.

    What you'll need to succeed

You will be a qualified Solicitor with experience in private client matters, particularly trusts, estates and succession planning. Applications are welcomed from lawyers with a range of PQE levels who can demonstrate strong technical ability and a genuine interest in developing their expertise in this area. Experience managing your own caseload, delivering excellent client service and building strong relationships with clients and colleagues will be important. A STEP qualification would be advantageous, although candidates who are working towards qualification or interested in obtaining it will also be considered. You'll be a proactive and personable lawyer who enjoys working collaboratively and providing practical, commercially aware advice tailored to clients' individual circumstances.

    What you'll get in return

You'll be joining a highly respected private client team with an excellent reputation in the market and a strong flow of quality work. The firm offers genuine opportunities for progression, ongoing professional development and exposure to sophisticated trust and estate planning matters. Alongside a competitive salary and benefits package, the firm supports hybrid working, typically with 2-3 days in the office per week, providing flexibility alongside excellent career development opportunities.

What you need to do now

If you're interested in this opportunity or would like a confidential discussion, please get in touch. If this role isn't quite right but you're considering a move within Private Client law, I'd be delighted to discuss other opportunities that may be of interest. We would expect a lawyer with the given level of experience to have gained the skills required for this position; however, applications from candidates with more or less experience are equally welcomed.
