How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The business supports a wide variety of development and infrastructure work, spanning sectors such as residential, commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, education and healthcare, and operates nationally from multiple regional offices. The role can be based from Leicester or Birmingham (with other Midlands locations potentially considered).

    The Role

    Key Responsibilities

Manage projects across residential, commercial and public sector developments, ensuring delivery to internal quality standards.
Design and analyse shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, slopes, ground improvement solutions and earthworks operations.
Undertake desk studies, plan and support intrusive ground investigations, complete verification reporting, and deliver geotechnical design outputs.
Produce high-quality technical deliverables including reports, drawings, models and calculations, within agreed deadlines and budgets.
Liaise with clients, internal stakeholders and statutory bodies (e.g., Planning, Highways, Drainage Authorities, NHBC) to keep projects moving efficiently.
Support senior team members with operational delivery, productivity and growth objectives.
Supervise, mentor and develop junior colleagues, including structured support for apprentices and graduates.
Help maintain and improve team standards, systems and procedures.
Undertake site visits/inspections and supervise investigation works, with UK travel when required.
Contribute to business development through strong client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
Maintain a structured CPD plan (minimum 12 days per year).

    Requirements / About You

Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Geo-Environmental Engineering, Geology or similar.
A relevant MSc is preferred (geotechnical engineering / engineering geology or related).
3+ years' experience in geotechnical site investigation, analysis and technical reporting.
Professional membership (or working towards) with a relevant body (e.g., Geological Society, ICE).
Strong technical knowledge including soil/rock properties, bearing and settlement calculations, slope stability, and retaining wall design. (Contamination assessment/remediation experience is beneficial.)
Competent in exploratory hole logging and sampling, with understanding of GI equipment and safe procedures.
Familiarity with current legislation/regulations, NHBC standards, and industry best practice.
Strong communication skills and confidence in client-facing settings.
Organised, methodical and detail-oriented; able to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
Commercially aware and proactive, with an interest in supporting team growth.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
Demonstrable commitment to health, safety and environmental best practice
