How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

With over 1,000 employees and a £150m turnover, we’re growing—and now looking for an experienced Estimator to play a key role in our project delivery teams.

    The RoleAs an Estimator you'll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical and ICA cost estimates for the process and water sector tenders. Working closely with other estimating disciplines, technical designers, commercial, and project teams, the Electrical Estimator provides experienced technical knowledge to the team and supports bid submissions to ensure project costs are accurately forecast and aligned with delivery requirements.
    What You’ll Be Doing
    1) Estimating & Bid Support

    Attendance at site visits as required. With a focus on all electrical and ICA elements of the site to develop an understanding of the existing treatment process, controls philosophy and understand present constraints.

    Input into and presentation of the scope of work to the wider bid and project delivery teams. Including; proposed technical solution, key procurement packages and constructability considerations/risks. 

    Prepare, in conjunction with other estimating disciplines, detailed electrical and ICA cost estimates for tenders within the Process and Water sector:
              o   Prepare single line diagrams and analyse using Amtech/Trimble software.          o   Prepare load, cable, instrumentation, IO schedules, or cable containment methods.
              o   Define work and supply packages and adjudication of procurement quotes received.
              o   Preparation and pricing of the cost estimate using RIB Candy estimating software.
              o   Identify risks associated with the project and capture in a risk register.

    Provide input to the tender programme with consideration of constructability,   sequencing of work, durations of tasks, testing and commissioning requirements while ensuring process compliance (i.e. temporary works) throughout construction

    Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and technical leads to ensure the scope if fully understood and all known assumptions and clarifications are captured.

    Support bid preparation by providing clear pricing input, cost narratives, and contribution to the technical solution report.

    2) Commercial & Risk Management 

    Identify, quantify, and communicate risks and opportunities associated with project costs.

    Assist in margin analysis and bid strategy discussions. 

    Maintain clear records of estimates, assumptions, and historical cost data.

    3) Stakeholder Coordination 

    Work closely with the Estimating Manager, Senior Estimators, and Bid Teams to align estimates with bid strategy. 

    Coordinate with procurement and supply chain to obtain accurate material and subcontractor pricing. 

    Support project teams during pre-construction and early delivery stages to provide cost input.

    4) Process & Knowledge Management 

    Maintain and update cost databases, benchmarks, and templates. 

    Contribute to process improvements in estimating and bid preparation. 

    Capture lessons learned from completed projects and bids to improve future estimating accuracy.

    What We’re Looking For
    Essential

    HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

    Experience as an Estimator in engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.

    Understanding of Process (waste water) and/or Water (drinking water) treatment processes and technologies.

    Strong numerical and analytical skills.

    Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple concurrent tasks.

    Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
    Desirable

    Professional membership (e.g., MIET, IET, RICS)

    Experience working on framework contracts and multi-site projects.

    Knowledge of NEC or other standard forms of contract.

    Familiarity with estimating software (Candy/Conquest/Causeway).
