How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Immediate requirement

    Role Overview:
    We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a project team for an initial 4-6 month period, covering a number of different sites across the North East.

    The first project will involve setting out works on a flood wall, with the successful candidate potentially moving between various civil engineering and infrastructure projects throughout the contract.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer with strong setting-out experience who is looking for a varied freelance role across the North East.

    Key Requirements:

    Proven experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure

    Strong setting-out experience

    Experience with flood defence, concrete, earthworks or similar works would be advantageous

    Competent using total stations, GPS and other surveying equipment

    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

    Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

    Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent site experience

    Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites

    Responsibilities:

    Setting out works accurately in accordance with drawings and specifications

    Carrying out levels, measurements and site surveys

    Checking line, level, dimensions and alignment of works

    Working closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and subcontractors

    Interpreting and working from engineering drawings

    Maintaining accurate site records and engineering documentation

    Identifying and resolving technical and setting-out issues

    Ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately and to the required quality standards
