How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our marine client based in Lancashire is looking for a Marine Superintendent to join their team. As a Marine Superintendent you will assist the operation and wider management team in the provision of marine operational expertise to ensure all vessels and crew meet their safety, environmental and operational requirements.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    *

    To assist in the management of the marine operations ensuring that company obligations are met.

    *

    Will be vessels point of contact for the day-to-day Marine aspects of the operation.

    *

    Act as Company Security Officer (CSO) and carry out/deputise all Designated Person Ashore (DPA) duties as per ISM code.

    *

    Ensure that vessels have on board the required procedures, certificates, publications, operating manuals and any documentation requested by flag state, class and company.

    *

    Assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures and fleet notices

    *

    Make sure that company Safety Management System is being applied in the perimeter of company operations.

    *

    Ensure that vessels comply with international and local regulations as well as respective ISM, ISPS code, client rules and procedures.

    *

    Adhere to internal and external audits plans, follow up of non-conformities and corrective actions plans.

    *

    Provide advice to vessel Masters on operations, delivering assistance when required.

    *

    To maximise the operational efficiency and effectiveness of marine operations and marine equipment in compliance with the company’s operating manual, with particular emphasis on Health, Safety and Environment.

    *

    Conduct internal ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO audits and inspections for assigned vessels.

    *

    Prepare vessels for external ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO audits and assist the Vessel Teams with developing corrective and preventive actions and root cause analysis from internal and external ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO audits and follow up for closure.

    *

    Member of Shoreside Emergency Response Team.

    THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

    *

    Minimum 2 years' experience as Marine Superintendent (Similar shore side experience may be considered).

    *

    Sailing experience as Master (preferably on Ro Ro Vessels) minimum class 1 unlimited CoC (preferred).

    *

    Familiarity with Maritime Rules, Regulations, Codes and Guidelines; ISM Code and ISPS requirements and class (preferred).

    *

    Sound knowledge in international maritime regulations and industry standards.

    *

    Excellent written English with strong report writing and documentation skills.

    *

    Flexibility to travel at times within UK and Europe

    *

    UK Driving licence
