The Business Development Manager will Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities that align with the Company's vision, values, and strategic objectives. The role is responsible for maintaining strong and progressive client relationships, engaging key stakeholders, and managing the contract extension and re-tender programme to support long-term retention and growth.
BDM to support the Growth and Development Team in achieving sustainable and realistic growth targets across the business.
BDM to manage client relationships and retention activities for a portfolio of sector-specific contracts, contributing to both the overall Company retention target and relevant sector-specific retention objectives.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with clients by working closely with Operational Teams, the Senior Management Team, and the Proposals Team to develop and implement winning strategies for both new business opportunities and contract retention.
Proactively identify risks, concerns, or service challenges that could impact client satisfaction, contract renewal, or retention. Work in partnership with Operational Teams to develop solutions that strengthen client relationships, improve service outcomes, and maximise opportunities for contract extensions and re-tender avoidance where appropriate.
Main Responsibilities
Growth
* BDM to proactively network within the industry to identify tender opportunities that support the Company's growth ambitions.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to position the Company for inclusion in future tender opportunities.
* Utilise Company systems and tools to manage opportunities throughout the tender lifecycle and track business development activities effectively.
* Represent the Company at industry events, forums, and networking opportunities, ensuring awareness of market trends and helping to maintain industry-leading service solutions.
* Identify and develop compelling win themes that align with client priorities, objectives, and requirements.
* Collaborate with the Proposals Team and subject matter experts across the business to produce high-quality, competitive tender submissions.
* Lead the development of technical and solution-focused responses, ensuring submissions are tailored, compliant, and commercially attractive.
* Provide clear guidance to the Pricing Team to support the creation of robust and commercially competitive pricing models.
* Maintain engagement with tender stakeholders throughout the procurement process to strengthen relationships and reinforce the Company's value proposition.
* Lead presentation and interview preparation, ensuring messaging is aligned to agreed win themes and business strategy. Coordinate presentation rehearsals to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
* Ensure comprehensive feedback is obtained for unsuccessful bids, capturing lessons learned and opportunities for continuous improvement.
* For successful bids, lead the commercial contract finalisation process, support mobilisation activities, and ensure an effective handover to the Operational Team while remaining a key relationship stakeholder.
Development
* The Business Development Manager will work alongside Operational Teams to understand client intentions regarding contract extensions, direct awards, or formal re-tender processes, identifying the most effective retention strategy.
* Develop and implement retention and contract extension strategies, including tender avoidance opportunities where appropriate.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders, acting as a trusted partner and strategic point of contact.
* Facilitate and coordinate client engagement initiatives and events, working with the Managing Director (Security) and relevant support functions to establish budgets, deliver meaningful experiences, and achieve measurable outcomes.
* Proactively utilise Company systems and platforms (e.g. Company Business Cloud) to maintain accurate records, client engagement activities, meeting notes, and reporting documentation.
* Regularly review client feedback, service performance, and relationship health indicators to identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, and long-term contract retention.
* Work collaboratively with Operational and Senior Management Teams to ensure client expectations are understood and exceeded, supporting sustainable business growth and retention objectives.
