How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Tyne and Wear
    Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
International Travel: Up to 10 days per month

An established and highly regarded manufacturer of advanced scientific imaging systems is looking to recruit an International Technical Sales Manager to join its commercial team.

The company develops and supplies innovative super-resolution microscopy solutions to leading universities, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies and life science organisations around the world.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical or scientific sales professional with a background in microscopy, scientific instrumentation or life science equipment to take responsibility for developing international sales opportunities and supporting a global network of distributors and customers.

The role is office based in Tyne and Wear when not travelling, so candidates will need to live within reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate.

    The Role

Working as part of a small technical and commercial team, you will be responsible for developing and managing technically complex sales opportunities for advanced microscopy and imaging systems.

    Responsibilities will include:

    * Developing direct sales opportunities with universities, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies and biotechnology organisations

    * Managing opportunities throughout the complete sales cycle from initial enquiry through to order

    * Building relationships with researchers, principal investigators, imaging facility managers and procurement teams

    * Managing and supporting international distributors and resellers

    * Identifying new customers, applications, territories and commercial opportunities

    * Delivering technical presentations, product discussions and system demonstrations

    * Understanding customers' scientific requirements and recommending appropriate system configurations

    * Preparing quotations, tenders and supporting technical documentation

    * Attending exhibitions, scientific conferences, customer meetings and distributor meetings

    * Maintaining accurate sales opportunities, forecasts and customer activity within the CRM system

    * Working closely with engineering, applications, marketing and senior management

    * Providing customer and market feedback to support future product development

International travel of up to approximately 10 days per month will be required, including travel throughout Europe, the USA, China and Japan.

    The Candidate

The successful candidate is likely to have:

    * A degree in Life Sciences, Physics, Biomedical Engineering or another relevant scientific or technical discipline

    * At least 3 years' experience within technical or scientific sales

    * Experience selling scientific instrumentation, research equipment or other technically complex capital equipment

    * Experience selling into universities, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology organisations or similar scientific environments

    * Knowledge of light microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, super-resolution imaging or related imaging technologies would be highly advantageous

    * Experience working with international distributors, agents or resellers would be beneficial

    * A proven ability to develop, manage and close technically complex sales opportunities

    * Strong technical presentation and communication skills

    * The confidence to discuss scientific applications with researchers and other technically knowledgeable customers

    * The ability to work independently and manage international sales opportunities

    * A willingness and ability to travel internationally on a regular basis

Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and hold a full UK driving licence.

This is a highly autonomous position offering the opportunity to work with advanced scientific imaging technology and some of the world's leading research organisations
