How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you an engineer who enjoys getting to the bottom of a fault rather than simply treating the symptoms?

    Our client is looking for a Service & Fault Finding Engineer to join their engineering team in Andover, with some field based work as required.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a hands on engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving, and improving machinery reliability. You will work alongside field service, engineering, and manufacturing teams to diagnose issues, reduce repeat failures, and help keep equipment performing at its best.

    What You Will Be Doing:

    * Diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, and control system faults

    * Investigating recurring faults, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions

    * Working with engineering and manufacturing teams on equipment improvements and modifications

    * Supporting preventative maintenance schedules and servicing procedures

    * Analysing service issues to identify trends and improve machine reliability

    * Feeding service findings into machine design and development

    * Helping reduce customer downtime and improve machine availability

    * Providing technical support to customers when required

    Who They’re Looking For:

    * Strong electrical and mechanical fault finding and diagnostic skills

    * Experience with machinery, automation, control systems, or industrial equipment

    * Experience with electrical wiring, control panels, sensors, motors, drives, and relays

    * A methodical approach to problem solving and root cause analysis

    * Experience with preventative maintenance or engineering improvements would be advantageous

    * Basic C++ programming experience, or willingness to develop these skills

    * Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues

    * A disciplined approach to following processes and control measures

    * Full UK driving licence

    Benefits:

    * 23 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with service)

    * Quarterly company growth bonus scheme

    * Standard pension scheme

    * Modern, purpose built working environment

    * On site canteen

    * Opportunities for continuous personal growth and development

    Think you could be the engineer who finds the fault, fixes it, and works out how to prevent it happening again? Get in touch or apply today to find out more
