How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Senior R&D Scientist – Life Sciences

    Berkshire | Full-time | On-site lab-based role

We’re excited to be recruiting for an experienced Principal R&D Scientist to join an innovative life sciences team based in Berkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled scientist with hands-on ELISA experience to take ownership of high-impact research projects and provide technical leadership to a growing R&D function. You’ll lead experimental design, oversee assay development, and support junior scientists in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

    About the Role

As a Principal R&D Scientist, you’ll play a key role in the planning and execution of scientific projects across the ELISA product portfolio. You’ll lead on assay development, troubleshoot technical issues, and drive improvements in processes and performance. With a strong focus on innovation and quality, you’ll also support wider business functions by providing technical expertise and insights.

    Key Responsibilities

Design, plan, and conduct laboratory experiments to support product development

Lead and manage assigned projects with minimal supervision

Develop and maintain ELISA assays, suggesting improvements where needed

Analyse, interpret, and present experimental data to internal and external stakeholders

Provide training, mentoring, and supervision to R&D Technicians

Support purification and conjugation processes (experience with AKTA systems desirable)

Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments on technical matters

Contribute to ongoing R&D meetings and strategic discussions

    About You

BSc (or higher) in a relevant scientific discipline

At least 5 years’ experience in an industrial R&D setting

Proven experience in ELISA design and development

Skilled in experiment planning, data analysis, and scientific reporting

Comfortable presenting data to varied audiences

Experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff

Knowledge of protein purification and conjugation techniques (desirable)

Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills

Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently

Unfortunately this company is unable to sponsor and so we can only consider those who already have the right to work in the UK on a permanent basis
