How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home

    Location: East Sussex
    Salary: £58,000 - £62,000 per annum
    Sector: Children’s Residential Care
    Job Type: Permanent
Role: Registered Manager / Children’s Home Manager

Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in East Sussex.

We are looking for a strong, child-centred leader who can take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home, lead and develop the staff team and ensure consistently high standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.

You will have the autonomy to lead the service operationally while working within a supportive senior management structure, including a Responsible Individual and Quality & Compliance support.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Children’s Home Registered Manager or an established Deputy Manager with significant residential childcare management experience who can demonstrate that they are ready to progress.

    The Role

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the operational leadership of the children’s home and for ensuring children and young people receive safe, nurturing, therapeutic and high-quality care.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Managing the day-to-day operation of the children’s residential home.

    * Leading, supervising, motivating and developing the staff team.

    * Creating a positive, stable and genuinely child-centred culture within the home.

    * Ensuring staffing levels and deployment meet the needs of the children and regulatory requirements.

    * Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and child protection.

    * Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, allegations and significant incidents.

    * Ensuring referrals and notifications are made to external agencies where required.

    * Ensuring accurate and timely Ofsted and regulatory notifications.

    * Maintaining compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.

    * Ensuring the home operates in accordance with its Statement of Purpose.

    * Maintaining accurate, compliant and defensible records and documentation.

    * Preparing for and participating in Ofsted inspections.

    * Responding positively to quality assurance audits and implementing agreed improvement actions.

    * Working closely with the Responsible Individual on governance, safeguarding and service performance.

    * Delivering improvement plans and driving continuous service development.

    * Ensuring safer recruitment practices are followed.

    * Providing staff supervision, appraisals and performance management.

    * Identifying training and development needs across the team.

    * Promoting reflective practice and continuous professional development.

    * Ensuring individualised care plans are effectively implemented and reviewed.

    * Championing children’s rights, wishes and participation.

    * Monitoring education, health, emotional wellbeing and wider outcomes for children and young people.

    * Ensuring the voice of each young person remains central to decision-making.

    Safeguarding

Safeguarding will be at the heart of everything you do.

As Registered Manager, you will take operational responsibility for safeguarding within the home, ensuring concerns are identified, escalated and responded to appropriately.

You will promote a culture in which safeguarding is understood as everyone’s responsibility and ensure the staff team has the knowledge, confidence and support required to deliver safe and consistent practice.

    Leadership & People Management

A large part of your role will be developing a strong, stable and accountable staff team.

You will provide clear leadership while encouraging staff to reflect, learn and continually improve their practice.

    You will be expected to:

    Lead by example.

Set clear expectations and maintain high professional standards.

Build a positive and supportive team culture.

    Conduct regular supervision and appraisal.

    Manage performance appropriately.

    Promote staff development and progression.

Ensure training and competency remain up to date.

    Encourage reflective and child-focused practice.

    Quality, Compliance & Ofsted

You will be responsible for ensuring the home remains compliant with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements.

Working alongside the Responsible Individual and Quality & Compliance function, you will engage positively with monitoring, audits and constructive challenge and ensure actions are implemented effectively.

The Registered Manager retains responsibility for the operational delivery and performance of the home.

    Care Planning & Outcomes

This role is about far more than compliance.

You will ensure children and young people receive individualised care that reflects their needs, experiences, wishes and aspirations.

You will monitor and promote positive outcomes across:

You will take primary responsibility for operational decisions relating to the home and escalate significant safeguarding, regulatory or operational matters to the appropriate senior leader when required.
