How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are working with a highly regarded property consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced Building Surveyor at Associate / Associate Director level to join and help grow its Building Consultancy team in London.

This is a genuine opportunity for an established Associate/Associate Director, or a strong Senior Building Surveyor ready to step up, to take on a senior role with responsibility across technical delivery, team management, client relationships and business development.

The team is well established and there is a clear appetite to expand the service and increase headcount. Recent framework wins have created additional opportunities and a strong pipeline of work for the team to capitalise on.

    The Opportunity

The successful candidate will join an established Building Consultancy team at an exciting point in its growth.

The role offers a broad mix of professional building surveying and project work, alongside responsibility for developing the team, managing client relationships and contributing to business development and work winning.

    You will be involved in:

    * Professional building surveying instructions across a varied client base.

    * Project management and contract administration.

    * Party Wall and neighbourly matters.

    * Building surveys, technical due diligence and defect diagnosis.

    * Managing projects from inception through to completion.

    * Managing and developing client relationships.

    * Supporting tenders, bids and framework opportunities.

    * Identifying and converting new business opportunities.

    * Managing, mentoring and developing the existing team of four.

    * Supporting the continued expansion of the Building Consultancy team.

    * Taking responsibility for the quality, commercial performance and successful delivery of instructions.

    About You

We are looking for a well-rounded Building Surveyor who can combine strong technical ability with leadership, commercial awareness and a desire to grow a business.

    You will ideally have:

    * Strong experience in Building Surveying within a professional consultancy environment.

    * Party Wall experience – essential.

    * Good project experience, including project management and/or contract administration.

    * A strong professional surveying background.

    * Experience managing, mentoring or developing junior team members.

    * Client-facing experience with the confidence to build and maintain relationships.

    * Experience of, or a genuine appetite for, business development and work winning.

    * Strong commercial awareness and the ability to take ownership of delivery.

    * The ambition to help grow a team and develop a successful Building Consultancy offering.

    * MRICS is preferred but not essential.

The business is particularly open to speaking with Senior Building Surveyors who are ready to make the move into an Associate / Associate Director position. You do not necessarily need to hold the title already; the focus is on having the capability, experience and ambition to step into the role.

    Why Consider It?

This is not simply a role to maintain an existing workload.

The business has recently secured new frameworks, creating a strong pipeline of work and an opportunity for the successful candidate to play a significant part in the next stage of growth.

You will have the opportunity to:

    * Take a senior position within an established London Building Consultancy team.

    * Help develop and grow a team of four.

    * Work across a genuinely varied mix of professional and project work.

    * Develop existing client relationships and win new business.

    * Capitalise on recently secured framework opportunities.

    * Have real influence over the growth and direction of the team.

    * Progress your career within a well-established and growing property consultancy.

    Package

£80,000+ basic salary, depending on experience, plus car / car allowance and wider benefits package.

All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence
