Overtime: Paid at Time & Half
Contek Recruitment are representing an established and versatile sub-contract engineering business with around 30 employees, manufacturing a wide variety of components and fabrications for customers across multiple industries.
This is a genuinely varied machining environment where no two days are the same. The business specialises in small batch production, one-off components and larger bespoke work, rather than repetitive high-volume production.
We are looking for an experienced CNC Miller who can programme, set and operate. This is not a role for someone who only wants to set or operate machines — you will need to be confident programming jobs from drawings through to completed components.
The Role
* Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machinery from start to finish
* Working from engineering drawings to produce accurate components
* Programming using OneCNC CAM (Or other similar packages)
* Selecting appropriate tooling, workholding and machining strategies
* Setting machines and proving out programmes
* Producing small batches, one-offs and bespoke components
* Working on a wide variety of component sizes and materials
* Inspecting your own work to ensure components meet drawing and customer specifications
* Working within a flexible sub-contract environment where priorities and jobs can change regularly
* Taking ownership of jobs from programming through to completion
* Working with both standard-sized components and large-scale machining projects
CNC Machinery
The machine shop includes a varied range of CNC milling equipment, including:
* 5m Soraluce travelling column machine – 3+2 machining
* 3m Ibarmia ZVH 45 travelling column machine
* XYZ 1020HD
* Doosan 3-axis
* Siemens and Heidenhain CNC controls
All machines are programmed using OneCNC CAM, with individual programming licences available for each machine.
About You
We are looking for a genuinely skilled CNC Miller with strong machining experience and the ability to work independently.
You should have:
* Proven experience as a CNC Miller
* Strong programming, setting and operating experience
* Experience programming using CAM software
* Ideally experience with Siemens and/or Heidenhain controls
* The ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
* Strong knowledge of tooling, workholding and machining processes
* Experience working within a sub-contract engineering environment
* The ability to confidently work on both one-off and small-batch components
* A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
* The ability to take a job from drawing and programming through to finished component
Experience working on large travelling-column or large-capacity milling machines would be particularly advantageous, although candidates with strong general CNC milling and programming experience will also be considered.
Working Hours & Benefits
- Choice of 4 on 4 off shift pattern (07:30–18:00), providing weekend coverage, or a standard Monday–Friday day shift
- 40 hours paid per week
- Overtime available and paid at Time & Half
- 22.5 days annual holiday
- Varied machining environment with no repetitive mass production
- Opportunity to work on both small and large-scale engineering projects
The Environment
This is a great opportunity for an experienced CNC Miller who enjoys variety and technical challenge rather than producing the same component day after day.
With a team of around 30 people and a broad customer base across multiple sectors, the company offers the chance to work on everything from small precision components through to large fabricated and machined fabrications.
If you're a CNC Miller who can program, set and operate and are looking for a role where your skills will genuinely be utilised, we'd like to hear from you.
