How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Company Description Bristol Tutorial College provides A-Level courses and bespoke education for students aged 16 and above.     Role Description This is an on-site, contract role for experiened Humanities Teachers based in CLifton, Bristol. The role involves planning and delivering engaging A Level humanities lessons (such as Economics, Geography, History, Law and Politics and related subjects), adapting teaching to individual student needs and different exam board specifications. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson plans and resources, setting and marking assignments, providing regular feedback, and supporting learners with exam preparation and resits. Teachers will collaborate with college staff to ensure curriculum coverage, track student progress, contribute to reports, and maintain clear communication with students and, where appropriate, parents or guardians. The role also includes participating in departmental meetings and adhering to the college’s policies on safeguarding, assessment, and quality assurance.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to plan and structure effective lessons, including strong Lesson Planning skills tailored to A Level humanities.
    • Experience teaching secondary-level learners (e.g., upper secondary or Middle School and above), with familiarity with UK exam frameworks.
    • Excellent Communication skills for explaining complex concepts clearly and engaging students in discussion.
    • Proficiency in Curriculum Development, including aligning teaching with A Level specifications and assessment objectives.
    • Subject knowledge in humanities disciplines, with the ability to teach to A Level standard.
    • Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent) and a degree in a humanities subject.
    • Experience supporting exam preparation, resits, and individual learning plans for students aged 16+.
    • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people, including willingness to undergo necessary background checks.
    • Strong organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively within a small college environment.
