How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Demolition Planner

    Location: Birmingham with site travel

    Working Arrangement: Office based - Site visit once a week

    Salary: £75,000–£85,000 per annum

    Reports To: Contracts Director

    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced Project Planner to join a major demolition and deconstruction project at with a national client based in Birmingham.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining and monitoring the project programme, providing accurate planning and progress information to the project team, and supporting the successful delivery of the works.

    You will have strong experience in planning complex construction, demolition or deconstruction projects and be confident developing programmes from first principles. Experience working within the nuclear sector and with NEC4 contracts would be highly desirable.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain the project programme from first principles.
    • Produce and update NEC4-compliant programmes throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Develop detailed project schedules covering demolition, deconstruction and associated construction activities.
    • Monitor progress against the approved programme and identify areas of delay, risk or potential recovery.
    • Collect and validate progress information from the project team and site personnel.
    • Produce regular progress reports, programme updates and planning information for the project team and client.
    • Incorporate time risk allowances and develop risk-adjusted programmes where required.
    • Apply three-point estimating techniques to programme activities and durations.
    • Maintain accurate and reliable programme data, ensuring data integrity at all times.
    • Provide planning and programming support to the Project Manager, Contracts Director and wider project team.
    • Attend project meetings with the project team, client and third-party stakeholders.
    • Identify programme risks, constraints, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
    • Support the project team with planning, sequencing and programme-related matters.
    • Ensure the programme remains aligned with project objectives, contractual requirements and site delivery.
    • Provide clear and concise planning information to support project decision-making.

    Essential Experience & Qualifications

    • Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
    • Proven experience as a Project Planner / Senior Planner on complex construction, demolition or deconstruction projects.
    • Demonstrable experience developing programmes from first principles.
    • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling and progress monitoring.
    • Experience producing and managing NEC4-compliant programmes.
    • Strong knowledge of programme risk, including time risk allowance and risk-adjusted programming.
    • Experience using industry-standard planning software, including:
    • Asta Powerproject
    • Primavera P6
    • Microsoft Project
    • Excellent understanding of project sequencing, dependencies, critical path and programme logic.
    • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with site teams, project management, clients and stakeholders.
    • Valid UK driving licence.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain the required site security clearance.

    Desirable Experience

    • Previous experience within the nuclear sector.
    • Experience working on major demolition or deconstruction projects.
    • MCIOB or equivalent professional membership.
    • Experience working under NEC contracts, particularly NEC4.
    • Experience of working on highly regulated or safety-critical projects.
    • Experience with programme risk analysis and quantitative schedule assessment.

    Project Environment

    This role will be based on a major demolition and deconstruction projects UK wide, based from the office in Birmingham, requiring a high level of planning discipline, programme control and coordination across the project team.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in providing reliable programme information and ensuring the project team has clear visibility of progress, risks, constraints and forthcoming activities.

    Pay: £75,000.00-£85,000.00 per year
