How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Residential Support Worker – £14 per hour – Ilford


    Can you combine empathy, resilience and clear boundaries to help young people feel safe, supported and confident about their future?


    The role

    Bright Young Futures is looking for a Residential Support Worker to support people within our residential home in Ilford.


    You will be a consistent and trusted presence, helping young people through challenges, encouraging independence and supporting them to recognise what they are capable of.


    We are prioritising full-time applicants, although strong bank candidates may also be considered.

    Our shift patterns are:

    • Day shift: 8:00am – 8:30pm
    • Waking night: 8:00pm – 8:30am


    Key Responsibilities

    As a Residential Support Worker, you will:

    • Build positive and professional relationships with young people.
    • Provide practical and emotional support during everyday and challenging situations.
    • Follow individual care plans and respond as needs change.
    • Encourage positive behaviour, independence and healthy decision-making.
    • Provide tailored one-to-one key work sessions.
    • Support education, apprenticeships, employment and community activities.
    • Help young people develop essential everyday life skills.
    • Maintain accurate records and prepare information for reviews and meetings.
    • Work closely with colleagues and other professionals.
    • Follow safeguarding, equality, health and safety and organisational procedures.
    • Drive company vehicles when required and in line with policy.

    The person

    To succeed as a Residential Support Worker, you will need:

    • Secondary education.
    • Strong communication and listening skills.
    • An understanding of safeguarding and young people's needs.
    • Emotional resilience and the ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly.
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good written communication and record-keeping skills.
    • Previous experience working within a team.


    A Level 3 childcare qualification, residential care experience, experience working with children or young people, and a clean driving licence would be advantageous.
