How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Workshop Supervisor

Fancy leading a workshop where your tools stay in your hand, not gathering dust in a drawer? This role is half tools, half team, and yours to run.

    Salary: Up to £43,000 + £2,000 Bonus

    About the company

Hatz GB is the UK operation of Motorenfabrik Hatz, a German engine manufacturer with over 140 years in the business. From its Hinckley site, the team builds, maintains and supports industrial diesel engines from 1.5 to 64kW, used in construction, agricultural and marine equipment. Hatz has supplied the UK market since 1979, running its own parts and service operation backed by a UK and Ireland dealer network.

    The role

As Workshop Supervisor, you'll run the day-to-day of the Hinckley workshop, reporting to the Technical Manager and Operations Manager. You'll split your time evenly between hands-on repairs and diagnostics, and planning, allocating and quality-checking the team's work.

    What you'll do

Lead and allocate daily workshop jobs, prioritising urgent breakdowns

Diagnose, repair and test diesel engines, stepping in on the harder jobs

Check completed work for quality and drive first-time fix

Coach technicians to build their skill and productivity

Prepare SAP quotations for repairs, escalating approval when needed

Manage workshop safety, housekeeping and correct use of tools and equipment

Coordinate with Parts, Stores, Service and Administration to keep jobs moving

    What you'll bring

    Essential:

Recognised mechanical engineering or mechanical technician qualification, or equivalent trade qualification

Strong hands-on experience with diesel engines, mechanical repair and diagnostics

Previous experience supervising or leading technicians in a workshop or service environment

Confidence planning workshop workload and allocating jobs against customer priorities

Comfortable combining hands-on technical work with team supervision and admin

    Useful, not essential:

Experience with electronic diagnostics, CAN systems or engine management systems

Familiarity with SAP or a similar job and quotation system

Background specifically in diesel or industrial engines

Experience in a breakdown or field service environment

    Benefits & culture

Financial: £43,000 basic plus a £2,000 annual bonus, taking the package to £45,000

Development: Hands-on training on Hatz's own engine range

Stability: A permanent role with a manufacturer that's supplied the UK since 1979

Culture: A small, hands-on team where your decisions on the workshop floor carry real weight

    What’s in it for you

25 days holiday plus bank holidays

    6% employer pension

Full factory training on Hatz products, plus an annual trip to Germany

Your birthday off and on-site parking
