This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with electrical, electronics or product testing experience who enjoys a practical, hands-on role and is looking to develop their technical skills within a supportive manufacturing environment.
You do not need to be a highly experienced Test Engineer for this position. However, you will need some previous practical experience within electrical/electronic testing, fault finding, manufacturing or a similar technical environment.
The Role
Working as part of the technical and quality team, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical and functional testing on products and electronic assemblies, ensuring they meet the required quality and safety standards.
You will also assist with fault finding, technical investigations and product improvement activities, working closely with colleagues across production, quality and engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out electrical and functional testing of products and electronic assemblies
Complete routine production testing in line with quality and safety standards
Follow established test procedures and technical work instructions
Accurately record test results and maintain relevant documentation
Identify and report faults or product failures
Assist with fault diagnosis and investigation of failed products
Support root cause analysis relating to product failures and quality returns
Work with colleagues to resolve testing issues and improve product reliability
Assist with the testing of new or modified products
Provide technical feedback on assembly or wiring issues identified during testing
Support specialist customer orders and product conversions where required
Contribute to improvements in testing procedures, efficiency and product quality
Assist with documentation relating to product compliance and certification
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
Previous experience within an electrical, electronics, testing or manufacturing environment
Some practical electrical testing and fault-finding experience
The ability to follow technical procedures and work instructions
Good attention to detail and a strong awareness of quality
A practical and hands-on approach
Good organisational skills and a methodical way of working
The ability to work effectively as part of a team
A willingness to learn and develop further technical skills
Experience using electrical test equipment would be advantageous, as would experience within lighting, LED products, emergency lighting or electronic assemblies.
An electrical or electronic qualification such as an NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent would also be beneficial but is not essential where you can demonstrate relevant practical experience.
