How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Maintain accurate site records and produce as-built information

Carry out quality checks on materials and completed installations

Check the setting out and quality of subcontracted works

Act as the quality lead across assigned projects

Respond to technical queries at site level

Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors and project teams

     Work independently across multiple sites

Ensure works comply with relevant specifications, drawings and quality standards

    Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

    About you

    You will have:
Previous wastewater experience gained within the United Utilities framework or another water company

Strong setting-out experience, including line and level

Practical knowledge of EDM and dumpy-level equipment

Excellent record-keeping and as-built documentation skills

The ability to assess the quality of materials and installations

Confidence dealing with technical queries on site

     Strong client-facing and communication skills

The ability to work effectively without direct supervision

     Proficiency in Microsoft Office

A full UK driving licence, due to the requirement to travel between sites

    Qualifications and training

    The following would be advantageous:
     A relevant engineering qualification

CSCS Gold Card, or the ability to work towards one

Previous experience in a supervisory capacity

     SSSTS or SMSTS

     First Aid qualification

Temporary Works Supervisor or Temporary Works Coordinator training

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer to take ownership of engineering and quality across a varied portfolio of wastewater projects.
