How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    GCSE English Lecturer Location: Merseyside
    Salary: Up to £40,557 per annum, pro rata
    Hours: Part-time to full-time options available

    Think FE is working with a supportive and forward-thinking further education group in Merseyside that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic GCSE English Lecturer.

    This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative English team delivering high-quality GCSE English Language provision to a diverse range of learners, including 16–19-year-old students and adult learners. You’ll play an important part in helping learners build confidence, improve their English skills and achieve the qualifications they need to progress.

    The college is open to applications from candidates looking for either part-time or full-time hours, making this a flexible opportunity for experienced GCSE English professionals.
    The role As a GCSE English Lecturer, you will plan and deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that help learners achieve their potential.
    Your responsibilities will include:

    Planning and delivering GCSE English Language lessons
    Setting, assessing and marking work in line with learners' programmes
    Monitoring student attendance, progress and achievement
    Supporting learners with revision, enrichment and progression
    Maintaining high standards of classroom practice and learner behaviour
    Working closely with curriculum, progress, learning support and careers teams
    Contributing to departmental meetings, open evenings and wider college activities
    Supporting the college's safeguarding, Prevent, equality, health and safety and quality procedures

    What we're looking for The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and innovative GCSE English practitioner with a genuine commitment to helping learners progress.
    You will ideally have:

    An advanced qualification in English, or an equivalent qualification alongside at least two years' experience teaching GCSE English
    A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to undertake one through in-service training
    Previous experience teaching GCSE English programmes
    A strong understanding of the current GCSE English Language curriculum
    Evidence of effective classroom practice and positive learner outcomes
    A Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Numeracy, or willingness to achieve this within two years
    A positive, flexible and adaptable approach
    A strong commitment to safeguarding and learner wellbeing

    Knowledge or experience of technology-enhanced learning would also be beneficial.
