How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

·Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team including planners, architects, landscape architects, and urban designers.
·Mentor and develop junior members of the planning team, helping to build their skills and experience.
·Support the Directors by taking ownership of project delivery and managing the day-to-day planning workload.
·Build and maintain strong client relationships.
·Contribute to business development, including identifying opportunities and helping to win new work.
·Represent the consultancy at client meetings and act as a confident, knowledgeable point of contact.
    What's on Offer
    ·£48,000 - £50,000 , depending on experience.
·Hybrid working model, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
·The opportunity to take on a key senior position within an established consultancy.
·Exposure to a wide range of high-quality projects across Wales.
·The opportunity to mentor and develop the next generation of planners.
·A collaborative and supportive team environment.
·The chance to work closely with Directors and play an important role in the continued growth of the planning function.
    About You
    ·MRTPI qualified.
·Ideally 8-10 years' professional planning experience.
·Strong experience within the private sector.
·Good knowledge and experience of the Welsh planning system.
·Proven experience managing planning projects from inception through to delivery.
·Confident in managing client relationships and acting as a client-facing representative.
·Strong business development skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and contribute to winning new work.
·A natural mentor who enjoys supporting and developing more junior members of a team.
·Able to operate confidently at Principal level and take on responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of projects, helping to alleviate the workload of senior Directors.
·Excellent communication, organisational and commercial skills.
If you're an experienced MRTPI planner with 8-10 years' private-sector experience and are ready to step into a Principal-level position where you can mentor others, manage clients and play a key role in business development, apply today with your CV.
