How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Position: Learning Mentor
    Location: Chichester
    Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
    Contract Type: Full-Time | Long-Term
    Pay Rate: £85 – £100 per day

    About the Role

    Sometimes the biggest difference isn't made at the front of the classroom - it's made by the person standing beside a child when they need support most.

    Supply Desk is looking for a compassionate and inspiring Learning Mentor to join a supportive school in Chichester. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural or learning support, helping them develop confidence, resilience and the skills they need to succeed.

    You'll build positive relationships with pupils, providing encouragement and consistency while working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to remove barriers to learning.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils.

    Build strong, positive relationships with children and young people.

    Encourage confidence, resilience and independence.

    Support pupils with emotional and behavioural needs.

    Help students overcome barriers to learning and engagement.

    Assist with learning activities and targeted interventions.

    Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and SEND professionals.

    Monitor pupil progress and contribute to support strategies.

    Promote a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.

    Candidate Requirements

    Experience working with children or young people is desirable.

    Experience supporting SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs would be advantageous.

    Patient, empathetic and approachable manner.

    Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

    Resilient and consistent approach.

    Ability to remain calm when managing challenging situations.

    Genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.

    DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
