How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Behaviour Support Officer
    Location: Birmingham
    Start Date: Immediate Start
    Salary: £100 - £130 per day

    Are you experienced in supporting primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

    Can you build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and help them develop effective self-regulation strategies?

    Do you have the resilience and confidence to support behaviour while helping pupils engage and succeed in their learning?

    TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEMH primary school in Birmingham that is focused on creating a supportive and structured environment for pupils with additional needs. The school takes a consistent approach to behaviour and recognises the importance of helping pupils regulate their emotions before successfully engaging with education.

    The school is looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Officer on a full-time, long-term basis with an immediate start. The successful Behaviour Support Officer will provide 1:1 and small group mentoring, support learning and behaviour in and outside the classroom, develop individual behaviour support plans and work alongside senior leaders, staff, families and external agencies to improve outcomes for pupils.

    The successful Behaviour Support Officer will have:

    Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs

    Experience providing behaviour support within an education or similar setting

    Confidence delivering 1:1 and small group interventions and mentoring

    Strong knowledge of positive behaviour and self-regulation strategies

    The ability to monitor, record and contribute to the analysis of behaviour

    A positive, resilient and consistent approach to building relationships with pupils
