How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a hands-on, experienced General Foreman looking to make a tangible impact on a major project? As a specialist recruitment consultant, I am thrilled to be partnering with a leading international infrastructure group who are leading the transformation of our industry to meet the challenges of the future. We are currently looking for a driven operational specialist to oversee works and lead teams on-site in Peterhead. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, champion uncompromising safety standards, and have a proven track record of getting things right the first time, this contract offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase your leadership with a top-tier industry pioneer.

    Job Title: General Foreman

    Location: Peterhead (AB42)

Contract Dates: ASAP - 18/12/2026, could be extended further

Pay rate: £23 per hour (umbrella inside IR35)

Working hours: 7-7 Mon to Fri, 7-1 Sat

    Role Overview

In this pivotal role, you will be the driving force on the ground, providing expert supervision of the works and maintaining tight control over a diverse team comprising foremen, gangers, and direct labour, alongside overseeing subcontractor operations.

    Key Responsibilities

Embody a relentless focus on a zero-incident culture. You will input into Work Package Plans and Risk Assessments, deliver engaging toolbox talks, conduct Safety & Environment Tours, and ensure all plant and tools are maintained and safe for use.

Champion a 'Right First Time' culture across the supply chain. You'll carry out independent inspections, monitor site workmanship, manage weekly programmes against KPIs, and ensure the correct level of resource is allocated to every task.

Identify future requirements for setting out, assess material wastage to implement savings, validate labour and plant records, and maintain a sharp awareness of the project scope to identify any areas of project creep or additional work.

    The ideal candidate will have:

A valid CSCS Card and a current driving license.

Proven experience managing the works of direct labour and subcontractors.

Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate safe systems of work and ensure they are followed accurately.

A strong work ethic with the flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights as the project demands.

A solid understanding of current H&S legislation, construction tolerances, and accident investigation protocols.

Experience in monitoring key programme dates (e.g., traffic management switches, concrete pour dates) and scheduling material quantities accurately.

Previous experience delivering high-profile projects involving earthworks, deep drainage, and reinforced concrete construction.

    Why Apply?

This is a superb opportunity to secure a highly engaging contract running through to the end of 2026 with a business that is truly shaping the future of infrastructure.
