How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you an experienced Works Manager looking for a fast-paced, high-impact contract where safety, leadership, and operational excellence take centre stage? I am absolutely thrilled to be partnering with a leading international infrastructure group who are leading the transformation of our industry to meet the challenges of the future. We are actively seeking a dynamic, decisive, and safety-focused Works Manager to spearhead site operations for a key project based in Peterhead. If you thrive on leading multi-disciplinary teams and have a proven track record in both rail and highway sectors, this short-term contract is the perfect opportunity to showcase your expertise on a highly prestigious site!

    Job Title: Works Manager

    Location: Peterhead (AB42)

Contract Duration: 31/08/2026 - 18/12/2026 (could be extended further)

Pay rate: £35 per hour (umbrella Inside IR35)

    Hours: 7-7 Mon - Fri, 7-1 Sat

About the Role: As the Works Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the management, leadership, and control of a multi-disciplinary site team, including Foremen, General Foremen, and on-site Labour. Working closely with my client's project management team, you will ensure that all subcontractors and direct workforces are appropriately supervised, expertly resourced, and closely managed to hit critical programme milestones.

    Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Compliance: Champion H&S legislation, ensuring all works strictly adhere to approved RAMS. You will promote and drive 'Zero Harm' and behavioural safety initiatives across the site.

Site Leadership: Deliver high-standard, succinct Site Inductions, Daily Briefings, Tool Box Talks, Short Interval Control meetings, and Task Safety Briefings.

Operations & Logistics: Manage site plant, tools, and materials efficiently to minimise wastage. Oversee comprehensive logistics and ensure environmental controls and HSEQ procedures are strictly followed.

Quality & Reporting: Ensure rigorous quality control, produce fully comprehensive daily records, provide necessary reports or investigations, and continuously implement improvements.

Team Development: Ensure all supervisors are briefed and aligned with company policies, including carrying out 'Black Hat' assessments for all site supervisors.

Planning: Collaborate with site teams to develop, monitor, and adjust project programmes as necessary.

To be successful in this role, you must bring a passion for safety, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to act decisively.

    A valid Sentinel PTS card.
Demonstrable experience working within the rail and highway environments.

Proven experience managing a variety of works encompassing both direct and subcontracted workforces.

Exceptional Health & Safety awareness, backed by an outstanding safety track record and a true dedication to 'Zero Harm' principles.

The ability to confidently develop and maintain strong relationships with Clients and Stakeholders.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to think on your feet in a fast-moving environment.

Advantageous: Previous experience and knowledge of M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) works.

Why Apply? This is a fantastic opportunity to partner with a phenomenal employer and play a pivotal role in delivering an essential infrastructure project in Peterhead.

If you have the skills, the Sentinel PTS card, and the leadership qualities my client is looking for, I want to hear from you. Apply today with your most up-to-date CV, or reach out to Becky directly on (phone number removed) to discuss this excellent contract opportunity in more detail!
