How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

    We are seeking a professional, organised, and detail-oriented Admissions Officer to join our Admissions team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong administrative, customer service, and communication skills who is passionate about supporting prospective students and ensuring an efficient admissions process.


    The Role


    The Admissions Officer will play a key role in managing the admissions process, ensuring applications are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with organisational policies and procedures. The successful candidate will communicate with applicants, provide guidance throughout the admissions journey, and work closely with internal departments to ensure a positive applicant experience.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Manage the admissions process with transparency, accuracy, and compliance while meeting deadlines and departmental targets.
    • Process and review student applications in a timely and professional manner.
    • Maintain correspondence with applicants through email, telephone, and other communication channels.
    • Respond to admissions enquiries and provide excellent customer service.
    • Liaise with academic and professional service departments to maintain effective communication and support applicant progression.
    • Ensure all applicant records are maintained accurately within relevant systems.
    • Keep up to date with admissions policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Support colleagues by sharing knowledge, guidance, and training where required.
    • Report errors, issues, or concerns promptly and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
    • Comply with GDPR, compliance requirements, anti-bribery regulations, and company policies.
    • Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the level of the role.


    Essential Requirements


    • GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
    • Minimum of 2 years' administrative experience.
    • Strong customer service experience.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • High level of attention to detail.
    • Experience using CRM systems, databases, or application management systems.
    • Strong organisational and time management skills.
    • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.


    Desirable Requirements


    • A-Level qualifications.
    • Bachelor's degree.
    • Experience working within Higher Education, preferably within admissions.
    • Experience reviewing applications and supporting student recruitment processes.
    • Knowledge of admissions systems and processes.
