Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Ideal Location: West Midlands Based
My client are a Regional Main Contractor, who work across the whole of the Midlands delivering New Build and Refurbishment schemes across the Built Environment. Due to growth in the region, the team are looking to bring in an Assistant QS or even a Trainee QS. They can support someone wanting to do an apprenticeship degree or someone part way through their Quantity Surveying course.
Example of Duties Below:
- Assist the commercial team with the day-to-day administration of construction projects.
- Support the preparation of subcontract enquiries and tender documentation.
- Obtain and compare quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist with the measurement and quantification of works from drawings and specifications.
- Help prepare subcontract orders and maintain procurement records.
- Assist in the preparation of applications for payment and client valuations.
- Support the assessment and processing of subcontractor payment applications.
- Maintain commercial registers, records and project documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Monitor project costs and update cost trackers under supervision.
- Assist with recording and valuing project variations.
- Attend site visits, progress meetings and commercial meetings to develop understanding of project delivery.
- Liaise with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors as directed.
- Ensure commercial documentation is maintained in accordance with company procedures.
- Complete all college, university or apprenticeship requirements alongside practical learning to a good standard.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
- Learn to communicate in a confident manner in line with established policies practices and priorities of the company and its clients. Be mindful of the wider industry initiatives and legislative requirements.
