How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Make a Difference Where It Matters

At EFWS (Education and Family Wellbeing Service), we do education differently. We work with children and young people who have struggled to engage with mainstream education. For many of our students, wellbeing comes before learning. Before we can expect a young person to learn, we need to help them feel safe, understood, regulated and ready. We're looking for compassionate, patient and curious people who want to work differently and see the young person behind the behaviour.

    It’s About More Than Teaching

At EFWS, we take a holistic approach. We look at the whole young person — their education, wellbeing, relationships, environment, strengths, interests and individual needs. We believe that all behaviour is communication. This approach helps us understand what is behind a young person's behaviour and find ways to support them that are meaningful and individual to them, and for this reason your role won't just be about delivering lessons. It will be about building trust, creating positive experiences and helping a young person recognise what they are capable of.

    What You'll Do

You'll work 1:1 or in small groups, providing personalised support based on each young person's needs.

    This could include:

    • Supporting wellbeing alongside learning
    • Delivering GCSE, Functional Skills or ASDAN where appropriate
    • Adapting activities to suit individual needs and interests
    • Building confidence, independence and trust
    • Understanding behaviour as communication
    • Celebrating progress, however big or small
    • Working with families and a wider team of professionals

    Who We Are Looking For:

We welcome applications from a wide range of education and support professionals, including:

    • Teachers and trainee teachers
    • Teaching Assistants and SEN specialists
    • Tutors and mentors
    • Psychologists and psychology graduates
    • Other professionals with experience supporting children and young people

QTS is desirable, but it is not essential. We value experience, attitude and the ability to build genuine relationships just as highly as qualifications.

    Why join EFWS?

At EFWS, progress isn't just about grades. It could be attending a lesson, trying something new, managing a difficult moment, building a relationship or starting to believe in yourself again. You'll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team where different skills and perspectives are valued. If you believe young people should be understood before they are judged, and you're looking for a role where you can build meaningful relationships and make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.

Help us change the narrative for the next generation.
