How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Utilities Engineer - Electrical

    Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

    Package: £49,480- £65,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

    Working pattern: Working Pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight, with every other Friday as a non-working day. For this role, employees are required to work fully onsite. We support flexible working arrangements where possible, including part-time and varied working hours, while maintaining an onsite presence.     AWE is currently recruiting for a Utilities Engineer - Electrical to support a variety of projects, upgrades and support tasks across the AWE estate.

    This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong understanding of Electrical distribution systems. As a Utilities Engineer, you will deliver professional engineering services to AWE projects.

    The successful candidate will provide support to the Delivery Manager by working with the Electrical Distribution Network Manager and Operations team to:

    Facilitate and support the delivery of projects to proactively manage risk across the network
    Provide and facilitate Network SME support to other projects across site
    Provide uninterrupted service to AWE's operational site in support of our core mission
    Support asset management of the AWE electrical distribution equipment across its full lifecycle.
    Design and assure designs for substations, switchgear and other infrastructure comply with AWE technical specifications, engineering standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
    Plan, design and manage deliver of network connections across a large, multi-site estate.
    Lead and advise engineers within bounds of own specialism in the delivery of innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.

    We do need you to demonstrate experience in the following:

    Technical Apprenticeship or HNC/HND with suitable additional experience
    Leading delivery of Utilities projects/works
    Effective Stakeholder Management
    Construction / CDM experience
    Finance management understanding
    Identifying and delivering to technical and regulatory requirements

    Primary Electrical Bias with experience across multiple disciplines.
    Experience in Utility / building service delivery over a large portfolio.
    Project Management qualification i.e. APMF/Q / Prince 2
    An understanding of Formal Risk Management process

    Important things you need to know:

    You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
