How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Trainee Electroplater – Hitchin

    Location: Hitchin
    Job Type: Full-time | Temporary to Permanent
    Pay: £12.80 per hour to start, with a pay rise once fully trained

    Our client, a well-established manufacturing company based in Hitchin, is looking for a Trainee Electroplater to join their production team.

    This is a great opportunity for someone with production or manufacturing experience who is looking to learn a skilled trade. Full training will be provided, and there is an opportunity for the role to become permanent for the right person.

    The Role

    The successful candidate will work with manufactured components and learn a range of electroplating processes, including nickel and zinc plating.

    Duties will include:

    Assisting with different electroplating processes following full training.
    Preparing components ready for plating.
    Loading and unloading products safely and efficiently.
    Jigging and wiring parts during busy periods.
    Carrying out quality checks and ensuring attention to detail.
    Following health and safety procedures.
    Keeping the work area clean and organised.
    Supporting the wider production team when required.

    The Ideal Candidate

    Previous production or manufacturing experience is essential.
    Experience with powder coating, chemicals, metal finishing or similar production work would be an advantage.
    Someone who is keen to learn and develop a new skilled trade.
    Good attention to detail is essential.
    Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
    Ability to follow and interpret engineering drawings would be an advantage.
    Must be physically fit, as the role involves a lot of lifting.
    Good dexterity is required as you will be required to jig and wire parts.
    Reliable, punctual and hardworking.

    Hours

    Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
    Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm

    30-minute lunch break.

    The role offers an early finish every Friday, giving you a great work-life balance.
