Trade Compliance and Export Control Officer
Location: Kent
Salary: £40,000-£45,000 DOE+ Excellent Benefits
Our client is seeking a Trade Compliance and Export Control Officer to support and maintain compliance with UK and international trade regulations while enabling efficient global operations.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional with experience in export controls, customs, licensing and international trade. You will play a key role in reducing regulatory risk, supporting cross-border operations and ensuring adherence to relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage export control and trade compliance activities.
* Determine export licence requirements and oversee licence usage.
* Prepare and review import/export documentation.
* Classify products using commodity codes and export control classifications.
* Conduct sanctions and restricted-party screening.
* Support customs compliance and import/export processes.
* Work closely with sales, logistics, finance and operations teams.
* Maintain accurate records and support audits.
* Monitor compliance risks and support corrective actions.
* Provide guidance and awareness training to internal stakeholders.
* Assist with shipping solutions and import clearances.
About You
* Experience within export controls, customs compliance or international trade.
* Knowledge of UK export controls, HMRC requirements and sanctions compliance.
* Experience with import/export documentation and licensing processes.
* Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
* Confident communicator with the ability to work across multiple departments.
* Experience within defence, aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or technology sectors would be advantageous.
* Eligible to obtain SC level security clearance.
