How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Site Agent – Water Treatment Project
    Location: Totton, Hampshire
    Day Rate: £450–£500 per day
    Our client is seeking an experienced freelance Site Agent to support the delivery of a major water treatment project in Totton, Hampshire.
    The project involves reinforced concrete works, earthworks, underground pipework, treatment structures, chambers, foundations and slabs. You will assist the Project Manager in progressing the scheme from the initial ECI phase through construction, commissioning and final handover.
    You will be responsible for ensuring the works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality, programme and commercial standards, while maintaining strong relationships with the client and other project stakeholders.
    You will report directly to the Project Manager. Key duties will include:
    *
    Assisting with the development and implementation of the project delivery strategy.
    *
    Managing the day-to-day construction activities across the site.
    *
    Coordinating reinforced concrete works, including foundations, bases, structural walls, slabs and water-retaining structures.
    *
    Managing earthworks, excavations, temporary works, drainage and ground improvement activities.
    *
    Coordinating underground and above-ground pipework installations, including chambers, connections, testing and tie-ins.
    *
    Overseeing subcontractors delivering civil, structural, mechanical and pipework packages.
    *
    Producing and monitoring short-term and lookahead programmes.
    *
    Reporting progress, risks, delays and upcoming activities to the Project Manager and key stakeholders.
    *
    Liaising with the design team, supply chain and site management to resolve technical, design and procurement issues.
    *
    Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection and test plans, and quality requirements.
    *
    Coordinating permits, temporary works, lifting activities and interfaces between civil and mechanical packages.
    *
    Monitoring health, safety and environmental performance and promoting a positive safety culture across the project.
    *
    Ensuring accurate site records are maintained, including diaries, progress photographs, quality records, test results and as-built information.
    *
    Working closely with the Quantity Surveyor to prepare cost plans, record commitments and monitor projected out-turn costs.
    *
    Identifying changes and variations and supporting the Project Manager with early warnings, compensation events and mitigation plans.
    *
    Challenging project stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation, improved buildability and safer, more efficient working practices.
    *
    Assisting with commissioning coordination, snagging, construction completion records and handover documentation.
    *
    Maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality throughout the project.
    About the Candidate
    The successful candidate should have:
    *
    At least three years’ experience working as a Site Agent on civil engineering projects.
    *
    Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete construction, structural slabs, foundations and water-retaining structures.
    *
    Experience managing earthworks, deep excavations, drainage and underground pipework.
    *
    Previous experience coordinating civil, structural, mechanical and pipework interfaces.
    *
    A sound understanding of early warnings, compensation events and programme requirements under NEC.
    *
    Experience producing Construction Phase Plans under the CDM 2015 Regulations.
    *
    A degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, construction management or another construction-related discipline.
    *
    Strong leadership, planning, coordination and communication skills.
    *
    A valid CSCS card. SMSTS certification, preferably.
    *
    Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor training, preferably.
    *
    First Aid at Work certification, preferably.
    Previous experience delivering heavy civil engineering works within the clean water or wastewater sector is essential
