How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor

    Birmingham with travel to project sites

    £50,000 to £70,000 + company car or £5,000 car allowance + 25 days annual leave + statutory days + 10% annual bonus

    Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to work on exciting and high value projects?

    Do you want to take ownership of projects worth up to £35m while developing your commercial career?

    An established and growing business within the demolition sector is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. You will work across an exciting and varied project portfolio, with values ranging from £200k to £35m, giving you exposure to a wide range of commercial challenges and the opportunity to work on some genuinely interesting projects.

    The successful candidate must be an experienced Quantity Surveyor, with a relevant qualification and a background in either demolition or construction. This is an experienced hire, so candidates coming from a trainee or graduate background will not be considered. You will need strong experience managing projects commercially from award through to final account, with a solid understanding of contracts, valuations, variations, cost control, forecasting and subcontract management.

    You will also need to be confident working closely with clients, subcontractors and operational teams, as well as being comfortable travelling regularly to project sites. The role is predominantly site based, with typically one or two days per week in the Birmingham office and additional office time towards month end. If you are commercially driven, organised and looking for a role where you can take genuine ownership of exciting projects, this could be an excellent next step.
