Rate:
* Basic Days: £23.45/hr + Holiday Pay
* O/T 1: £32.83/hr
* O/T 2: £42.21/hr
The Role
We are currently recruiting experienced Mechanical Fitters to work at the Isle of Grain Power Station. The successful candidates will carry out mechanical maintenance and repair work, with a particular focus on industrial water pumps, bearings and associated rotating equipment.
This position would suit a mechanically qualified fitter with previous experience working within power stations, process plants, heavy industry or other industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintaining, repairing and overhauling industrial water pumps.
* Removing, inspecting and replacing mechanical bearings.
* Diagnosing faults affecting pumps and rotating equipment.
* Dismantling and rebuilding pumps, motors and associated mechanical components.
* Carrying out bearing changes, lubrication and condition checks.
* Inspecting shafts, seals, couplings, impellers and mechanical assemblies.
* Completing pump and equipment alignment, including laser alignment where required.
* Replacing mechanical seals, gaskets and worn components.
* Using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment.
* Reading and working from mechanical drawings, specifications and maintenance instructions.
* Supporting planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown work.
* Ensuring equipment is correctly reassembled and ready for testing and commissioning.
* Completing permits, risk assessments and maintenance documentation where required.
* Maintaining excellent health, safety and housekeeping standards throughout all work.
Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 - Mechanical Fitting
* CCNSG/CSCS
* Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter in an industrial environment.
* Strong experience maintaining and repairing pumps, bearings and rotating equipment.
* Good understanding of mechanical seals, shafts, couplings and alignment procedures.
* Ability to safely dismantle, inspect and rebuild industrial machinery.
* Experience within power generation, petrochemical, manufacturing, utilities or heavy engineering would be advantageous.
* Valid CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent site-safety qualification is desirable.
* Confined Space, MEWP, abrasive wheels or lifting qualifications would be advantageous.
* Ability to work safely both independently and as part of a wider maintenance team
