How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    1. Cost Estimation & Budgeting

    • Prepare accurate cost estimates specific to groundworks and RC frame packages.
    • Assist in the development of budgets during pre-construction and planning phases.
    • Monitor budget alignment with on-site productivity and material usage.

    2. Measurement & Take-Offs

    • Perform detailed take-offs from structural and civil drawings for excavation,
    foundations, formwork, reinforcement, and concrete.
    • Prepare and update Bills of Quantities (B&Qs) for tendering and cost control purposes.

    3. Procurement & Tendering

    • Source, assess, and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers for civils and RC
    frame works.
    • Prepare tender documents and review returned tenders for scope, rates, and
    compliance.
    • Ensure procurement aligns with the construction program and technical specifications.

    4. Subcontract Management

    • Let and manage subcontractor packages for groundworks (e.g., excavation, drainage)
    and RC frame (formwork, rebar, concrete).
    • Monitor subcontractor performance, variations, and compliance with contract terms.

    5. Cost Control & Reporting

    • Track project costs against budget and manage cost forecasts throughout delivery.
    • Monitor wastage, productivity rates, and resource usage for concrete, steel, and
    earthworks.
    • Prepare CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations), cash flow forecasts, and monthly reporting.

    6. Valuations & Payments•

    Prepare interim valuations and applications for payment based on measurable
    progress.
    • Certify subcontractor payments and agree variations and change orders.
    • Support preparation of final accounts and agreement of quantities.

    7. Change Management & Variations

    • Assess the impact of design changes, site conditions, and delays on cost and
    programme.
    • Submit and negotiate compensation events, EOT claims, and commercial claims as
    needed.

    8. Site Liaison & Progress Monitoring

    • Work closely with site engineers, foremen, and project managers to verify works done
    and quantities installed.
    • Attend site meetings and report on commercial and contractual matters.

    9. Health & Safety and Compliance

    • Ensure all costing and procurement activities consider H&S compliance, particularly for
    high-risk activities such as deep excavations and formwork.
    • Maintain accurate records for audits and compliance with company and regulatory
    standards.

    10. Technical Knowledge & Coordination

    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of methods, materials, and sequencing in groundwork
    and RC frame construction.
    • Coordinate with designers and structural engineers to validate quantities and resolve
    buildability or cost issues.

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

    * Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil
    Engineering, or a related field.

    * Alternative qualifications (e.g. Higher National Diploma or Certificate) may be accepted with sufficient experience.

    Professional Accreditations (Preferred or Required)

    * Working toward or holding professional membership or certification such as:

    * RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)

    * CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building)

    Experience

    Entry-Level Roles: 2 years of experience (internship or placement year beneficial).

    Technical Skills

    Strong understanding of:

    * Cost planning and control

    * BoQ preparation, measurement, and tender documentation

    * Contract administration and change management

    * Final account preparation

    Proficiency in key software/tools:

    * Microsoft Excel (advanced)

    * Bluebeam

    * Project platforms like Procore, Aconex

    Soft Skills

    • Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial awareness.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks or projects.
    • Effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement
